Lucy Gill

Lucy graduated from Leeds Beckett University in 2021 during the global pandemic. She studied Sociology and Criminology and found her interest in social justice and the framework of the education system. Lucy focused her final year dissertation research project on the ‘Political agenda’ within the British education system and its impact on working class pupils. Through research Lucy discovered the extent of the educational gap in attainment and the competing priorities pupils and teachers must face to meet the ethos of schooling, whilst developing a sense of belonging and improving wellbeing. Since graduating, Lucy worked as an ICT engineer for Cumbria County Council until April 2023.

Lucy is originally from the Allerdale area and has joined the WELL Project Team as the Project Assistant. She is keen to combine her university knowledge, research skills, professional council experience and bring fresh ideas to the WELL project – making a positive difference to the young people of Allerdale and Copeland and furthering her skills set in the Learning Improvement Service.
