Sue Frost
Director – Education Research Alliance Headteacher – Ashfield Junior School
I have been headteacher at Ashfield Junior School in Workington for 9 years following a move to Cumbria from Stoke-on-Trent in 2014. I have worked in education for 28 years having roles in secondary, special, primary and junior schools, as well as an advisory post for Stoke-on-Trent Local Authority. These posts have all involved working with a high number of disadvantaged pupils.
I am on the WELL Board representing the Education Research Alliance (formerly Cumbria Research School) as Ashfield has the role of leading on this work. We have been involved in using research and evidence for our school improvement planning for the last few years and have a keen interest in developing this further by supporting other schools in the county. Our role as research school meant we were responsible for disseminating information from the EEF to Cumbrian schools. We are now continuing this work with additional partners. It is great to be part of the WELL Board as this gives us a direct link to support schools in West Cumbria, to secure the very best for our most disadvantaged pupils. West Cumbria is a great place to work, and we feel really positive about the impact this project, working alongside brilliant West Cumbrian school colleagues, can have on the outcomes for children.
